This is a perfect way to send your Special Someone a message of love. Adapted from a recipe by Sam the Cooking Guy.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 TBL vegetable oil
- 8 TBL sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp corn starch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 8 TBL sugar
STEP BY STEP
- Type your fortunes up and cut them into strips
- Beat egg whites until soft peaks
- Mix other three ingredients in a small bowl into the egg whites
- Beat just until incorporated
- In a separate bowl, add 3 TBL water into the flour mixture
- Mix until it looks sandy
- Mix in with egg whites
- Take 1 level tablespoon of batter and put it on a greased baking sheet
- Form into a four inch circle using the back of the spoon
- Bake about 15 minutes (or until browned) at 300º
- Gently peel off and insert fortune strip
- Fold them in half, then put the back edge over the rim of a glass
- Carefully press down to create the fortune cookie shape
NOTE: You can only do about four at a time, because these will harden very quickly once removed from the oven.
