{"id":6122,"date":"2015-10-18T15:54:53","date_gmt":"2015-10-18T15:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=6122"},"modified":"2022-02-09T22:11:17","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T05:11:17","slug":"rice-krispie-treats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/rice-krispie-treats\/","title":{"rendered":"Rice Krispie Treats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is one of the simplest best time-tested kid (and grown-up kid) treats ever to come along.<\/p>\n<p>There are thousands of YouTube videos out there, but here is one that is the most popular<\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nQsDB29hYVM\">Original Recipe<\/a><\/h1>\n<h1>Grandpa&#8217;s Version<\/h1>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Ingredients<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 TBL full-fat butter<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL flax or canola oil<\/li>\n<li>2 TBL honey<\/li>\n<li>1 package (8 oz., about 40) Marshmallows<br \/>\nOR<\/li>\n<li>4 cups Miniature Marshmallows<\/li>\n<li>6 cups puffed brown rice cereal<\/li>\n<li>OPT:&nbsp; 3 OZ toasted and slivered almonds<\/li>\n<li>OPT:&nbsp; 2 OZ dried cranberries &#8211; chopped<\/li>\n<li>OPT:&nbsp; 1 OZ dried cherries &#8211; chopped<\/li>\n<li>OPT:&nbsp; 1 oz dried blueberries &#8211; chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"recipe-instructions\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Directions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In large saucepan melt butter, honey and oil over low heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat.<\/li>\n<li>Add puffed rice cereal.<\/li>\n<li>Stir until well coated.<\/li>\n<li>Coat 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with cooking spray.<\/li>\n<li>Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into pan<\/li>\n<li>Cool.<\/li>\n<li>Cut into 2-inch squares.<\/li>\n<li>Best if served the same day.&nbsp; Wrap in waxed paper, freeze, and they will keep for up to six weeks.&nbsp; Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is one of the simplest best time-tested kid (and grown-up kid) treats ever to come along.
