{"id":5308,"date":"2015-04-13T04:14:57","date_gmt":"2015-04-13T04:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=5308"},"modified":"2021-02-16T09:07:15","modified_gmt":"2021-02-16T16:07:15","slug":"three-bean-salad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/three-bean-salad\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Bean Salad"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Robert&#8217;s Six Bean Salad<\/h2>\n<p>We would usually call this Three Bean Salad, but this recipe has a few extra ingredients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>1 can Black beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 can (short cut) green beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 can Kidney beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 can Pinto beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 can white beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 can Garbanzo beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 red onion, sliced as thinly as possible<\/li>\n<li>1 red bell pepper, sliced thin<\/li>\n<li>3 cloves of garlic, minced small<\/li>\n<li>1 packet of crushed red pepper<\/li>\n<li>Juice and zest from one lemon<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp dried paprika<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL Dijon mustard<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp dried cumin<\/li>\n<li>1 bunch of cilantro, minced<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp fresh oregano, minced<\/li>\n<li>2 TBL chives<\/li>\n<li>NO SALT &#8211; because you did not rinse the beans<br \/>\nIf you rinsed the beans, add 1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp black pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C EVOO<\/li>\n<li>2 TBL Karo Syrup<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C fresh lime juice<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C Red wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li>White vinegar to top after all else combined<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>STEP BY STEP<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a large bowl mix first fourteen ingredients (1-14)<\/li>\n<li>Whisk all remaining ingredients (15-24 ) together<\/li>\n<li>Combine GENTLY with the first bowl<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a large canning jar<\/li>\n<li>If necessary, top off jar with white vinegar<\/li>\n<li>Best if allowed to meld in the refrigerator for one hour before serving<\/li>\n<li>Will keep up to 2 weeks<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Dan&#8217;s Three Bean Salad<\/h2>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 LB fresh green beans (ends trimmed)<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL salt (for the water)<\/li>\n<li>3 scallions &#8211; greens and whites &#8211; cut into 1\/2 inch pieces<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL olive oil<\/li>\n<li>2 cloves garlic &#8211; minced<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp orange zest &#8211; plus juice<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp lime zest &#8211; plus juice<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL white wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp sesame oil<\/li>\n<li>15 oz canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans) &#8211; rinsed<\/li>\n<li>15 oz canned cannelloni beans &#8211; rinsed<\/li>\n<li>15 oz canned kidney beans &#8211; rinsed<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL toasted sesame seeds<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp sea salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>STEP BY STEP<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Bring large pot of water to a boil<\/li>\n<li>Add 1 TBL salt &#8211; do not add until boiling<\/li>\n<li>Add trimmed green beans and blanche for 3-4 minutes<br \/>\nif you like beans crisp cook 3 minutes, cook 4 if you like soft<\/li>\n<li>Drain and put into cold water &#8211; let rest 5-10 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Drain again, and place on a towel to continue draining<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet to shimmering<\/li>\n<li>Add garlic and cook 30 seconds, then add garbanzo beans<\/li>\n<li>Cook 3-4 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Add citrus juices and stir 1 minute<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and add vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seeds and citrus zests<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, gently stir together green beans, cannelloni beans, kidney beans and scallions<\/li>\n<li>Toss with vinegar mixture and 1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert&#8217;s Six Bean Salad We would usually call this Three Bean Salad, but this recipe has a few extra ingredients.
