{"id":5189,"date":"2015-04-07T23:59:59","date_gmt":"2015-04-07T23:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=5189"},"modified":"2021-01-25T17:51:19","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T00:51:19","slug":"sangria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/sangria\/","title":{"rendered":"Sangria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/velez-malaga-sangria\/\">CLICK HERE<\/a> to see what we fixed while living in Spain.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>Really Good Sangria<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/sangria.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10124\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium aiif10124\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/sangria.jpg\" alt=\"sangria\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"><\/a><span style=\"font-size: large; color: #ff0000;\">Before we begin&#8230;<\/span><br \/>\nEverything should be cold, and then cut, and then placed in the freezer for 30 minutes before preparing and serving.&nbsp; You can alternately freeze the ingredients, but this will tend to make your fruits mushy when they thaw.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large; color: #ff0000;\">Ingredients to feed 4 people<\/span><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Ingredients to prepare and place in the freezer<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup fresh raspberries<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C sliced strawberries<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C sliced peaches<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C pineapple pieces<\/li>\n<li>1 blood orange &#8211; medallions<\/li>\n<li>1 lemon &#8211; medallions<\/li>\n<li>1 lime &#8211; medallions<\/li>\n<li>large pieces of lemon peel<\/li>\n<li>Optional:&nbsp; Mango, kiwi, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<td>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>Ingredients to measure and set aside<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>1 pt red wine &#8211; Rioja from Spain<\/li>\n<li>1 pt white wine &#8211; Riesling (Rhine Wine) from Germany<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C rum<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C agave syrup<\/li>\n<li>2 C pineapple juice<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C orange liquor or triple-sec<\/li>\n<li>2 cinnamon sticks<\/li>\n<li>6 whole cloves<\/li>\n<li>1 liter ginger ale or champagne (Add just before serving)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large; color: #ff0000;\">Step by Step<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare all ingredients in the left column and place on a plate (spread out) in the freezer for 30-60 minutes.&nbsp; This will help keep the sangria cold without using ice.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerate your pitcher.<\/li>\n<li>Gather the ingredients in the right column.<\/li>\n<li>Place your frozen ingredients in the cold pitcher.<\/li>\n<li>Add everything else except the ginger ale<\/li>\n<li>Ideally, let meld in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours<\/li>\n<li>Just before serving, pour in the ginger ale<\/li>\n<li>Serve with mint, basil and ice cubes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>NOTE:&nbsp; DO NOT put ice cubes into the pitcher, it will dilute your sangria.<\/p>\n<p>Options:<\/p>\n<p>White . Crisp White, Refreshing White, Chardonnay<br \/>\nRed . Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet, Malbec, Shiraz<\/p>\n<h2>Simple Sangria<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In a bowl combine 1\/2 LB mixed berries<br \/>\nblueberries, raspberries, strawberries (pieced), and so forth<\/li>\n<li>Toss with 2 TBL sugar<\/li>\n<li>Slice 1 lemon very thin (rind and all)<\/li>\n<li>Put into a pitcher with chilled rose wine<\/li>\n<li>Pour over ice<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CLICK HERE to see what we fixed while living in Spain.
