Thanks Martha Stuart for this fancy word<br \/>\n. 1\/2 gallon water with the juice of two lemons<\/li>\n<li>In large stock pot with a steamer basket, add 1 gallon water<\/li>\n<li>Place artichokes face down in steamer basket<\/li>\n<li>Place basket in pot<\/li>\n<li>Squeeze juice from two lemons over top of artichoke<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle tops of artichoke with a bit of salt<\/li>\n<li>Place halved lemon as a cap on top of artichoke<\/li>\n<li>Cover and turn water on medium-high<\/li>\n<li>Check water level halfway through<\/li>\n<li>Add more BOILING water if necessary<\/li>\n<li>To test for doneness, push pointy knife into stem<\/li>\n<li>Place stem side up on towels to drain and cool<\/li>\n<li>Use tongs to remove core<\/li>\n<li>Set aside, because much of the core is edible<\/li>\n<li>Use spoon to scrape out choke from main artichoke<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Options for dipping sauces<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Grandpa&#8217;s Creamy Dipping Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/4 C Miracle Whip<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C Sour Cream<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C Plain Yogurt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C Ranch Dressing<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>Juice and zest from two lemons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Martha Stewart&#8217;s Butter Dipping Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mince one sprig of tarragon<\/li>\n<li>Add to 2 sticks butter . 1 C<\/li>\n<li>Add one half teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>Cook in very small pot at low temperature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Find an artichoke that seems heavy and compact for its size.
