Several Recipes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Onion and Gruyere Strata<\/h1>\n<ol>\n<li>Slice one Vadalia, Maui or sweet onions thinly<\/li>\n<li>Add 2 tsp sugar, and salt and pepper to taste<\/li>\n<li>Put over low heat with 2 TBL butter<br \/>\nWhile that cooks<\/li>\n<li>In a separate bowl, combine\n<ul>\n<li>6 dozen eggs &#8211; beaten<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C chopped Spinach<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C Gruyere &#8211; grated<\/li>\n<li>OPT: 1\/4 C Cheddar, Mozzarella or Monterey Jack<\/li>\n<li>Salt, pepper, nutmeg, Dijon mustard to taste<\/li>\n<li>OPT:&nbsp; Scallions, thyme<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp Grandpa&#8217;s Thunder Powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C Cream<\/li>\n<li>1 C Milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Add the sauteed onions to the spinach mixture<\/li>\n<li>Toss above spinach mixture with 1 C French bread crumbs or croutons &#8211; mix to combine<\/li>\n<li>Pour into a lightly greased baking casserole<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 325\u00ba for 60 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Put butter knife into the center.&nbsp; If it comes out wet, cook for another 15 minutes; if it comes out fairly clean, go to next Step.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle more shredded cheese over top<\/li>\n<li>Return to oven for another 10 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This feeds 3-4 people<\/p>\n<h1>Breakfast Monte Cristo Lasagna<\/h1>\n<p>Makes six individual personal lasagnas<\/p>\n<p>Softened butter<br \/>\nOne 1 1\/4-pound loaf bakery white bread\u2014crusts removed, bread sliced (about 18 slices)<br \/>\n1\/4 cup grainy mustard<br \/>\n1 pound thinly sliced Virginia ham<br \/>\n2 tablespoons chopped tarragon, plus more for garnish<br \/>\n3\/4 pound Gruy\u00e8re cheese, coarsely shredded (3 cups)<br \/>\n3 cups milk<br \/>\n4 large eggs<br \/>\nFreshly ground black pepper<\/p>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 375\u00b0<br \/>\nButter individual ramikens<br \/>\nArrange a slice of bread in the bottom of the dish<br \/>\nSpread with mustard.<br \/>\nAdd a layer of ham<br \/>\nSprinkle with Tarragon and a scant handful of Gruy\u00e8re cheese<br \/>\nRepeat the layering, leaving off the last layer of cheese.<\/p>\n<p>In a medium bowl, whisk the milk with the eggs and season generously with black pepper.<br \/>\nPour the custard evenly over the dish, pressing the bread to absorb the liquid.<br \/>\nPat the remaining cheese on top and cover with a sheet of buttered parchment paper.<br \/>\nBake the lasagna in the center of the oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until bubbling and browned around the edges.<br \/>\nRemove the parchment and turn on the broiler.<br \/>\nBroil for about 3 minutes, just until the top is golden and bubbling.<br \/>\nLet rest for 10 minutes, then serve.<\/p>\n<p>The unbaked strata can be refrigerated overnight.<br \/>\nLet sit on counter for 30 minutes before putting into oven<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Onion and Gruyere Strata Slice one Vadalia, Maui or sweet onions thinly Add 2 tsp sugar, and salt and pepper to taste Put over low heat with 2 TBL butter While that cooks In a separate bowl, combine 6 dozen eggs &#8211;
