Roll pie dough flat on floured surface<br \/>\n2. Roll to approx 11&#8243; disk &#8211; use cover as template<br \/>\n3. Put into pie tin<br \/>\n4. Parchment paper over crust<br \/>\n5. Be sure to DOCK bottom of crust &#8211; not too many<br \/>\n6. Insert metal pie tin<br \/>\n8. Make rim &#8220;roll under&#8221; for crust &#8211; glass<br \/>\n9. Make decorative edge (See Additional Note)<br \/>\n10. Glaze edge<br \/>\n11. Prebake crust 375 degrees 10 minutes<br \/>\n&#8211;<br \/>\n12. Carefully pour in filling<br \/>\n13. Bake pie for 45 minutes<br \/>\n14. OPTIONAL: Top with pralines or toasted pecans<br \/>\n15. Cool at least 5 minutes before cutting<\/p>\n<p>Use commercial pie crust or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/basic-pie-crust\/\">MAKE YOUR OWN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This recipe can be used with any fruit; cherry, rhubarb, strawberry rhubarb, strawberry, blueberry, etc.<\/p>\n<p>PUMPKIN PIE FILLING<\/p>\n<p>For pumpkin pies; instead of buying a can of pumpkin puree, try making your own.<\/p>\n<p>COOK PUMPKIN PUREE<\/p>\n<p>Notes DECORATIVE EDGE<br \/>\nCut narrow triangles with leftover pie crust trimmings<br \/>\nRoll to create little curls, then chill<br \/>\nApply to edge with egg wash (egg and water)<br \/>\nRefrigerate shell 1 hour before putting in filling<\/p>\n<p>Cut pumpkin in half &#8211; remove seeds &#8211; cut into 1-2 inch pieces<br \/>\nCook at 350 degrees for 1 hour<br \/>\nMash roughly with potato masher<br \/>\nDrain overnight in cheescloth strainer in refrigerator or pie will be very watery<\/p>\n<p>FILLING<br \/>\n2 CU pumpkin puree<br \/>\n1\/4 CU dk brown sugar<br \/>\n1 tsp cinnamon<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp nutmeg<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp clove<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp ginger<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp salt<br \/>\n1 CU heavy cream<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Instructions Preheat oven to 375 degrees 1.
