{"id":17470,"date":"2019-03-27T17:06:58","date_gmt":"2019-03-28T00:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=17470"},"modified":"2024-08-11T11:22:59","modified_gmt":"2024-08-11T18:22:59","slug":"simple-pastry-dough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/simple-pastry-dough\/","title":{"rendered":"Simple Pastry Dough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a good and forgiving recipe for dough for a quiche, pot pie, fruit pie, and much more.&nbsp; <strong>Simpler Pastry Dough<\/strong> is under this recipe.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 C flour &#8211; sifted<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 C sugar (half this for a savory quiche)<\/li>\n<li>2 TBL cornmeal<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp lemon zest<\/li>\n<li>1 stick butter &#8211; cold pieces<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1 egg plus an extra yolk<\/li>\n<li>1 oz cold apple cider<\/li>\n<li>Add ice water if necessary for consistency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Using a food processor, pulse together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and lemon zest.<\/li>\n<li>Pulse in butter, vanilla and egg until it starts to come together.<\/li>\n<li>Finish on the counter on a floured surface.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap in plastic wrap and chill overnight.<\/li>\n<li>Next day, take out and rest (still wrapped) on the counter for an hour.<\/li>\n<li>Knead until it is once again pliable.<\/li>\n<li>Return to your recipe to continue prep. . .<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<input type=\"button\" value=\"Back\" class=\"alg_back_button_input \" style=\"\" onclick=\"window.history.back()\" \/>\n<ul>\n<li>1.5 C AP flour<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1 stick butter (cold)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine salt, sugar and flour<\/li>\n<li>Cut in butter<\/li>\n<li>Blend in milk<\/li>\n<li>Finish on the counter<\/li>\n<li>Let rest 10 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Roll into shape for your pie pan<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a good and forgiving recipe for dough for a quiche, pot pie, fruit pie, and much more.&nbsp; Simpler Pastry Dough is under this recipe.
