TBL baking soda<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C Hatch green chilies<\/li>\n<li>1 TBL buttermilk powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C sour cream<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 oz evaporated milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C dried chives<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 tsp dry mustard<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C shredded Tilamook cheddar cheese<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C processed American cheese or Velveeta<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C Parmesan cheese<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C cottage cheese<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C shredded Swiss cheese<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C softened Philly cream cheese<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C shredded cheese blend &#8211; a little bit of each &#8211; for topping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/meet-grandpa\/medal\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/medal.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" align=\"right\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large; color: #ff0000;\">Step by Step<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cook the macaroni to taste &#8211; <em><strong>slightly<\/strong><\/em> more al dente than your preference<\/li>\n<li>Drain macaroni and set aside<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"recipe-directions__list--item\">In a saucepan, render bacon over medium heat.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"recipe-directions__list--item\">Add 4 TBL butter<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"recipe-directions__list--item\">Stir in 1\/4 C (4 TBL) flour to make a roux.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li>When the roux starts to darken, add a 1\/4 C buttermilk and whisk until smooth<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"recipe-directions__list--item\">Add the rest of the buttermilk to roux a splash at a time, stirring constantly.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Add the rest of the kinds of milk and whisk together<\/li>\n<li>Add mustard and other spices<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"recipe-directions__list--item\">Stir in cheeses, and cook over low heat until cheese melts and the sauce thickens.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Add macaroni back into the pot, and fold together<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven and cast iron skillet to 350\u00ba<\/li>\n<li>Put butter into cast iron skillet<\/li>\n<li>Pour mixture into skillet, and pat it down<\/li>\n<li>Top with as much shredded cheese as will fit in the casserole<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 350\u00ba for 20 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Let rest five minutes before serving<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;
