{"id":17409,"date":"2019-03-21T13:39:19","date_gmt":"2019-03-21T20:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=17409"},"modified":"2020-04-16T10:20:07","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T17:20:07","slug":"open-faced-grilled-cheese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/open-faced-grilled-cheese\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Faced Grilled Cheese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>INGREDIENTS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 TBL butter<\/li>\n<li>2 TBL AP flour<\/li>\n<li>1 C milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C buttermilk<\/li>\n<li>2 TBL Dijon mustard<\/li>\n<li>Ham or crisp bacon<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>STEP BY STEP<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>PREPARE YOUR BECHEMEL<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Melt butter in a hot skillet.<\/li>\n<li>Put flour on top and stir until it starts to brown.<\/li>\n<li>Add milk, whisking constantly.<\/li>\n<li>Add buttermilk right after.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to stir until it thickens.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and cover.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PREPARE YOUR BREAD<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Add 2 TBL melted butter and 2 TBL EVOO to a rimmed sheet pan.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat tray to 375\u00ba in the oven.<\/li>\n<li>Slice a nice thick piece of rustic bread.<\/li>\n<li>Put on the sheet pan and wipe it around.<\/li>\n<li>Spread your Bechemel on the bread<\/li>\n<li>Top with grated Oaxaca or Manchego cheese<\/li>\n<li>Add chopped ham or bacon on top of the cheese<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 6-8 minutes<\/li>\n<li><strong>COOK YOUR EGG<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Cook two eggs sunny side up for each slice of toast.<\/li>\n<li>Serve the bread with an egg on top.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INGREDIENTS 2 TBL butter 2 TBL AP flour 1 C milk 1\/2 C buttermilk 2 TBL Dijon mustard Ham or crisp bacon salt and pepper to taste STEP BY STEP PREPARE YOUR BECHEMEL Melt butter in a hot skillet.
