{"id":15566,"date":"2018-03-08T17:23:50","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T00:23:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=15566"},"modified":"2019-05-17T14:40:27","modified_gmt":"2019-05-17T21:40:27","slug":"soboro-don","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/soboro-don\/","title":{"rendered":"Soboro Don"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Basically chicken, rice and eggs.\u00a0 Also served with chicken, veggie and eggs.<\/p>\n<p>RECIPE ONE<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/soboro.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium aiif15569\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/soboro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Ingredients<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Tbsp neutral flavor oil (vegetable, canola, etc)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd lb ground chicken (you can also mince chicken breasts\/thighs)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp ginger (grated, with juice)<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp sake<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp granulated sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp mirin<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>3 large eggs (beaten)<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp granulated sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp neutral flavor oil (vegetable, canola, etc)<\/li>\n<li>2-3 servings cooked Japanese short grain rice<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup green peas, French cut green beans or edamame (defrosted)<\/li>\n<li>Pickled red ginger (kizami shoga)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step by Step<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cook the chicken in oil on medium low heat stirring continually<\/li>\n<li>While the chicken is still slightly undercooked pour in the sake, mirin and soy<\/li>\n<li>When the chicken is done (but not dry) add 2 TBL sugar and grated ginger<\/li>\n<li>Cook until most of the liquid is gone<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a bowl and set aside<\/li>\n<li>Beat the egg well and add 1 TBL sugar<\/li>\n<li>Cook\/beat the egg until it is in small pieces<\/li>\n<li>Plate in thirds &#8211; rice, chicken and egg<\/li>\n<li>Top with edamame and pickled ginger<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>RECIPE TWO (brief)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Marinate 1 lb ground or minced chicken in 2 TBL each sake, mirin, soy, ginger and sugar.<\/li>\n<li>Scramble 3-4 eggs and chop into small pieces<\/li>\n<li>Finish rice according to appropriate instructions<\/li>\n<li>Alternately you can serve green beans as a fourth item, or in place of rice.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with chives or peas, then ginger.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Here is a link to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?num=20&amp;source=hp&amp;ei=qWExW8_kBIvI8AP_14Fo&amp;q=soboro+Don&amp;oq=soboro+Don&amp;gs_l=psy-ab.3..0l6.1707.4135.0.4590.12.11.0.0.0.0.122.1000.5j5.11.0..2..0...1.1.64.psy-ab..1.11.1078.6..35i39k1j0i227i273k1j0i227i67k1j0i67k1j0i131k1j0i20i264k1j0i10k1j0i227k1.79.xMjPKEEAnnU\">other Soboro Don recipes.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Basically chicken, rice and eggs.\u00a0 Also served with chicken, veggie and eggs.
