{"id":13992,"date":"2017-03-19T16:30:09","date_gmt":"2017-03-19T23:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=13992"},"modified":"2021-01-25T18:27:21","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T01:27:21","slug":"machaca-beef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/machaca-beef\/","title":{"rendered":"Machaca Beef"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to Ninos Restaurant in Sun City and Macayos Restaurant in Phoenix for this recipe.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Use a chuck roast or chuck eye roast or bottom roast<\/li>\n<li>Cut into large pieces &#8211; about 2-3 inches<\/li>\n<li>Put into a pot of water (or crock pot) and cover with beer plus two inches<\/li>\n<li>Add large pieces of celery, carrot and onion<\/li>\n<li>Add salt, pepper, oregano, cloves, and <\/li>\n<li>Bring water to a boil and simmer for 2-1\/2 &#8211; 3 hours<br \/>\nIf using a crock pot, let slow cook on low for 6-8 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool so you can handle it safely &#8211; KEEP the braising liquid<br \/>\nKeep some for gravy, and use some to keep the meat moist in the refrigerator<\/li>\n<li>Shred while still warm &#8211; refrigerate for up to a week in the braising liquid<br \/>\nDiscard any large pieces of fat or gristle.<\/li>\n<li>When ready to serve, heat up a skillet with butter, onion and garlic<\/li>\n<li>Sear the shredded meat in the hot skillet\u00a0 &#8211; this will create more texture in the meat<\/li>\n<li>Add 1 small (drained) can of diced tomatoes and 1 can green chilies<\/li>\n<li>Add salt, pepper and desired spices<\/li>\n<li>Rehydrate with a bit of the braising liquid<\/li>\n<li>Cook for about 20 minutes, then serve on taco shells, tostada shells or tortillas.<br \/>\nThis is also good when mixed with BBQ sauce and served on a hamburger bun<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to Ninos Restaurant in Sun City and Macayos Restaurant in Phoenix for this recipe.
