{"id":13604,"date":"2016-12-25T15:59:40","date_gmt":"2016-12-25T22:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/?p=13604"},"modified":"2021-01-25T18:28:06","modified_gmt":"2021-01-26T01:28:06","slug":"beans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/beans\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Bean Casserole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_4118.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiif13605 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_4118.jpg\" alt=\"{CAPTION}\" width=\"140\" height=\"107\"><\/a><br \/>\nThis is the classic Campbell&#8217;s casserole from most of our childhoods with a few twists of my own.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PREPARE YOUR ONION TOPPING<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine 1 TBL sugar, 1 TBL cornstarch, 1\/4 C AP flour, 1 tsp salt and 2 TBL panko breadcrumbs<\/li>\n<li>Slice two medium onions into very thin slices<\/li>\n<li>Toss with breading<\/li>\n<li>Spread out on baking sheet<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 475\u00ba for 30 minutes &#8211; Toss at 10 and 20 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Set aside on paper towel to cool<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>PREPARE THE MUSHROOMS<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Slice 16-20 (cleaned) mushrooms &#8211; about 12 ounces<\/li>\n<li>Saute in 2 TBL butter, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper<\/li>\n<li>Saute for at least 10 minutes, then add 2 cloves minced garlic and 1\/4 tsp nutmeg &#8211; meanwhile, gather all the ingredients.&nbsp; The next Step by Step is assembly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 regular sized can Campbell&#8217;s Cream of Mushroom Soup<\/li>\n<li>1 C whole milk (or Half and Half)<br \/>\n&#8211; I like to use lowfat buttermilk because it is thick and creamy AND it is low fat.&nbsp; Two good things!<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp soy sauce or Worchestershire<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp <\/li>\n<li>3 cans green beans<\/li>\n<li>Onion Topping:&nbsp; half inside, and half on top<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_4119.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium aiif13606\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_4119.jpg\" alt=\"{CAPTION}\" width=\"300px\" height=\"225px\"><\/a>STEP BY STEP<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the mushroom skillet, stir soup, milk, soy sauce, spices, beans together in a mixing bowl<\/li>\n<li>Toss 1\/2 of the onions <em><strong>gently<\/strong><\/em> into the mixture<\/li>\n<li>Empty into a baking dish<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 350\u00ba for 30-45 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Stir gently once or twice<\/li>\n<li>Top with remaining onions<\/li>\n<li>Bake for another 10 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the classic Campbell&#8217;s casserole from most of our childhoods with a few twists of my own.
