Swirl Pudding"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/doubleboiler.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium aiif12943\" src=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/doubleboiler.jpg\" alt=\"doubleboiler\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>King&#8217;s Pudding<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 C milk or Half and Half<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C corn starch<\/li>\n<li>1 egg +\u00a0 3 egg yolks<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp real vanilla<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 C condensed milk<br \/>\nOR: 1\/2 C more milk plus 1\/2 C sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(Use egg whites to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grandpacooks.com\/recipes\/swiss-meringue-buttercreme\/\">meringue topping<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP BY STEP<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Warm milk in microwave until it is warm to the touch, but not hot.<\/li>\n<li>Mix in all other ingredients<\/li>\n<li>Cook in double boiler (glass bowl) until thickened &#8211; Stir constantly<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Garth&#8217;s Chocolate Swirl<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>3 C whole milk<br \/>\n&#8211; Start to bring up to a simmer<br \/>\n&#8211; meanwhile combine . . .<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 C corn starch<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tsp vanilla<\/li>\n<li>4 egg yolks (save whites)<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 C sugar<\/li>\n<li>pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>As mentioned before, start to bring milk up to the merest simmer over medium low heat<\/li>\n<li>Combine all other ingredients in a mixing bowl<\/li>\n<li>As soon as you see whisps of steam coming from the top of the milk, temper the simmering milk into the egg mixture.\n<p>Tempering means that you want to pour half of the hot liquid SLOWLY into the cold egg mixture while whisking continually.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t whisk, or if you pour too quickly, you will end up with scrambled eggs in your pudding.<\/li>\n<li>Once combined, return to the heat and continue heating until the pudding starts to thicken.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, put 2 TBL butter into a small bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Once it begins to thicken, pour half in with the butter.<\/li>\n<li>Add 1 TBL cocoa to the pan and stir both to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool about three minutes, then pour into 2-4 ramekins &#8211; pouring half chocolate and half vanilla<\/li>\n<li>Let cool 20 minutes before serving<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Optional Treatment<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Add 2-3 TBL cocoa at Step 2 above<\/li>\n<li>Prepare a crust before starting the entire recipe<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 4 graham crackers &#8211; crushed, 1\/2 stick butter<\/li>\n<li>Pour pudding over bananas and vanilla wafers &#8211; refrigerate<\/li>\n<li>Topping &#8211; Whip in very cold glass bowl<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0 1\/2 C cold heavy cream, 1\/4 C powdered sugar<\/li>\n<li>Break and roast vanilla wafers @ 325\u00ba for 20-25 minutes &#8211;
